JL Kraft Fine Art. had its true beginnings almost 35 years ago when Jeffrey L. Kraft moved, from Boston Massachusetts to Chicago. In the late 70’s , He worked for the Spertus Museum. Works form the personal collection of Maurice Spertus that did not pertain to the Museums Permanent collection were offered for sale. This initiation into the art world proved to be a lifelong calling. From Daum crystal to contemporary Russian paintings and assorted Middle Eastern artifacts all were offered for sale through the Spertus Gallery, which was designed and built under his supervision. When given the opportunity to travel for the Museum and collect works of art for the contemporary gallery Jeffrey jumped at the chance. To his credit a number of the artists that he started working with in the 80’s are now part of the permanent collections of many Museum collections around the world.

From this association, Jeffrey was responsible for adding to many of the public art collections in the Chicago area. Works of art include stained glass windows by Schmuel Bonnet, Heinz Seelig, and Thomas Patti, as well as outdoor sculptures at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, Ravina , and even at the entrance to 94 Expressway from the Orleans street exit are crowned by artists that he still works with today; such as Boaz Vaadia, Virginio Ferrari and John Kearney , who’s whimsical bumper sculptures that not only dot the city, but play an important part of the landscape of OZ Park.

More Nationally, Jeffrey has participated in art fairs in Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and internationally; Basel Switzerland & London England.

Recently Jeffrey was part of the expansion of the Chicago galleries, west into the West loop area of the City, with Kraft Lieberman gallery. His current objective is to open a new gallery space that will include the option for his clients to see works of art not only in a gallery, but a home, and garden setting as well.
