Ron Starr was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1958. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in Fine Arts. He furthered his studies in ceramic art under the tutelage of renowned artists, Don Reitz and Bruce Breckenridge. Today, Ron works from his studio in Lake Zurich, Illinois where his creativity and energy can be seen in his large vessel ceramic art and abstract paintings. Im a very high-energy person, who tries to convey a love for an active life in every sculptural vessel. My objective is for clients to feel the same energy I experience when they view my art. I look for every piece to convey movement and energy in the environment in which they are displayed. My artwork is high-energy; brightly colored; with vivid, rapid movements. I take a freestyle approach, enjoying the wonderful characteristics of clay and being unrestricted in form design as well as the use of textures and colors. Through spontaneous decorative marks in the clay, I am able to illustrate character and personality in each original piece of ceramic art.
